The West Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department
operates from one station headquartered at 6 Fairfield Avenue. Staffed by an average of 50 members (whose volunteer status saves local taxpayers over a million dollars annually), the department utilizes two 1500 gallon-per-minute pumper engines, one 106 foot aerial ladder truck, one 750 gallon per minute mini-pumper and one utility/power/support vehicle.

In addition to handling all fire emergencies, the firefighters respond to hazardous material incidents, and a myriad of other calls for public assistance including support of other public service agencies.

West Caldwell's codes and ordinances are written and enforced to provide safety for all its citizens. A full-time Fire Prevention Bureau inspects residential, commercial and industrial premises to help reduce the community's risk of fire, and is always available to provide public
fire prevention education.
